College Priorities

Financial Gifts

Your financial gift allows Harriot College to maintain and enhance the many excellent programs that encompass the college. Through private funding, the college provides students with scholarships, research opportunities, study abroad experiences, and the ability to hear from guest speakers. Faculty benefit from professorships and program support in the areas of equipment, teaching tools, and additional curricular activities that benefit undergraduate and graduate students. When you give to Harriot College, you are giving to Pirates and eastern North Carolina!

Harriot College Priorities

You can make an impact on students in Harriot College by providing support in the following funding priorities.

Voyages of Discovery Series

The Voyages of Discovery Series advances the spirit of exploration and discovery that is the hallmark of the arts and sciences, and it has become the premier intellectual event for students and faculty of ECU, the citizens of eastern North Carolina, and a showcase for the quality and diversity of academic life at ECU. Each year, the series features thought-provoking and accomplished leaders from a variety of disciplines who provide insight into important issues in today’s society, and who share their experiences and perspectives. We are deeply grateful to the Dean’s Advancement Council of the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences for establishing the series in 2007 and for their continued support. We hope you, too, will consider a gift to help sustain the series into the future! Learn more about supporting the Voyages Series.

Study Abroad scholarships

Harriot College prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to succeed in a global society. Harriot College is committed to making students’ study abroad experience as affordable as possible. This is why we have partnered with the ECU Office of Global Affairs to offer student study abroad scholarship support.

North Carolina Literary Review

A cross between a scholarly journal and literary magazine, the North Carolina Literary Review is an award-winning ECU publication that features poetry, fiction, nonfiction and interviews by and with North Carolina writers. Learn more about how you can support NCLR.

Dean’s Early Career Award

The Dean’s Early Career Award, established in 2015 through the generosity of the Harriot College Advancement Council, recognizes and rewards exceptional performance by tenure-track assistant professors. It represents the college’s breadth of faculty excellence in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics.
