Harriot College Alumni Profile: Christopher Louis Wilson

ECU “40 Under Forty” Leadership Recipient

Christopher Louis Wilson, Chemistry alumnus (BS, ‘04; MS ‘06) who lives in Wake Forest, NC, is one of ECU’s 2022 “40 Under Forty” Leadership Awardees.

“I am a TEAM guy and to be selected for an individual honor is humbling. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of a lot of people,” Wilson said.

Wilson’s #HarriotCollegeMajor is helping him #MakeAMajorDifference as an executive director in the neuroscience group for Radius Health, where he strategizes and executes the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of their lead investigational chemistry and manufacturing controls product known as RAD011.

Wilson said he enjoys knowing he has a potential impact on patients if their products are successful, and he enjoys getting to know and work with diverse people in the industry.

“I’ve worked on multiple products that have gained approval for the marketplace and impacting lives in a positive way is very fulfilling,” he said. “Developing relationships outside of work is also something I enjoy a lot. The pharmaceutical industry has allowed me to meet many people from different parts of the world. Learning how to connect and accomplish a common goal is always rewarding.”

Many faculty made an impact on Wilson and his work during his time at ECU.

“The chemistry faculty were wonderful, specifically Dr. Burns, Dr. Danell, and Dr. Allen. They helped me understand how to look at complex problems and not narrow solutions to just one pathway,” Wilson said. “Also, have fun and laugh at yourself. Things are not always going to work, and that is okay. Learn from it and adjust.”

A little-known fact about Wilson’s family is that he, his wife, and his son fostered two children at various times during the past five years.

“My family has been blessed and to be able to help others was a rewarding experience,” he said.
