Harriot College Alumni Profile: A. Carlyle Rogers
ECU 2023 “40 Under Forty” Leadership Recipient
Dr. A. Carlyle Rogers (B.S. Biology ’08; Ph.D. Pharmacology and Toxicology ’13), who resides in Jamesville, NC, is one of ECU’s 2023 “40 Under Forty” Leadership Awardees and a Harriot College alumnus.
“I feel humbled and privileged,” Rogers said. “My selection as an honoree is not a solo award, rather it is a testament to the amazing mentorship, friends and people at ECU that helped me along my journey.”
Rogers’ #HarriotCollegeMajor is helping him #MakeAMajorDifference, and an impact in far-reaching areas, as the director of licensing and commercialization at ECU. In this role, he assists faculty in translating their research discoveries into real-world solutions.
“I enjoy that I can use my skillset and passion for research innovation to help transform the region through the creation of new products, services and jobs,” Rogers said.
While attending ECU as a student, Rogers said, “The Department of Biology, faculty, and specifically Dr. John Stiller, helped to foster my curiosity for research and creative problem-solving.”
Problem-solving seems to extend beyond his chosen career path as well. Rogers said few people know that he has also built several web platforms in his spare time.
